The Wedluxe Show

For those of you who are familiar with the Wedluxe Magazine (the best wedding magazine on the planet) then you will not be surprised to hear that Wedluxe decided to move into show biz and host their first wedding show January 8, 2012. The magazine exemplifies classy, sophisication, creativeness and exquisite taste, so to be participating in the show is going to rock my world. Check out their website for more details and swing by the show to see CurlyGirl Flowers in action :o)

Holiday Workshop 2011

Hi everyone! I just hosted my first floral workshop on the weekend and what a rush! I had so much fun and so did my wee grasshoppers :o) I taught them how to make a holiday wreath. We could have used a styro-foam wreath, but I'm a "go big or go home" kinda girl...so we used a wire frame, stuffed it with moss, wired on the greens (we used magnolia, blueberry cedar and douglas fir) and then added our decorative bobbles and bows. One of the grasshoppers offered to host at her home so I set up shop and we were off to the races. At the end of the workshop, I was given the best compliment...not only did they love it as much as I did, but I am booked for December 2012 :o)

Awards dinner...

The Syndicate Mortgages BRAG Awards Dinner was hosted at The Roosevelt Room in Toronto and along with Sabrina, who organized the event (Perfectionista Events Inc.), I provided the floral decor for the tables. Pretty cool and swanky location...

The Civilized Bride Show

What can I say...this event was fantastic...like super star fantastic. A perfect blend of networking, mingling, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. The venue was Airship37, which for those of you who are not familiar, is just a completely cool place with it's industrial/lofty look. The inside walls were lined with vendors and the center was filled with an elegant and chic lounge area and cruiser tables. I cannot wait to participate next year! A huge thank you to Sabrina Nicosia of Perfectionista Events Inc, who organized and executed this fabulous show.

Ring of Orchids...

When my friend's mum got engaged and I was asked to provide the flowers for the wedding, I was thrilled and honoured to be contributing to her special day. My favorite piece was the head halo. The bride brought it back from England, but wanted it "spruced up" for the wedding, so to keep with the requested outdoor and hippie theme, I added blush dendrobium orchids and created tails down the back...pretty pretty pretty.

The Toronto Gay Wedding Show

This was my first time participating in a wedding show and I had such a great time. It was so cool to be amongst such a large group of colleagues and to have the opportunity to network with everyone who walked through the show. A big thank you to Ashley Watson of Ashley Waston Images who took the pictures you see below, and if you are looking for invitations, you must contact Sarah Spano of Hip Ink. She is funky and fabulous!

Long Distance Planning...

This wedding I found quite unique...at least from a planning perspective...the bride was living in Thailand while corresponding with vendors in Toronto. It was a different experience not being able to meet with a client in person, but we had a great time working through the details over email. It's amazing how well you can get to know someone, one click at a time :o) The wedding and reception was held at The Blue Dot Gallery in the Distillery District. The venue was eclectic and quaint...a perfect match for this couple.

Camp Sylvester

We got something really cool in the mail today...a picture and letter from Mitchel (see below), an 11 year old boy who lives in St Lucia and was able to attend Camp Sylvester for the first time this summer, due to his sponsorship from CurlyGirl Flowers.

The camp is one of the many programs managed by the St Lucia Learning Project, which provides enriched learning opportunities and hope for the future for the underprivileged rural children on the island of St. Lucia.

As a sponsor, it is really nice to know that along with the more common activities of camp (eg. swimming, games etc.) the campers also go on educational field trips, learn life skills training and attend junior leadership programs.

We look forward to sponsoring a camper again next year :o)
