Silver And Bold

Hi everyone. I was reading through the August/September 2011 edition of Canadian Florist Magazine and came across an interesting article, "Silver and Bold", which talks about trends for the holidays...yep...the holidays...we florists start thinking about the holidays before you have even thought about putting away your sandals and shorts for the summer :o)

The article discusses outdoor inspiration, trees, textures, bold hues and more. Regarding the picture below:

"Green is still a hit for Christmas but lime offers a fresh new look to the tried and true hue. It pops nicely when combined with a little glamour and glitz"

Happy reading! :o)

Make Someone Smile®

Today was all about giving back and paying it foward...

This week is Teleflora's Make Someone Smile® Week. For those of you who are not familiar with the program, thousands of Teleflora florists create and deliver over 40,000 Teleflora Be Happy® Bouquets to hospital patients, children in foster care, nursing home residents, Meals on Wheels recipients, and many others. It has grown to become one of the floral industry’s leading charitable projects, involving growers, wholesalers, and family-owned flower shops across the country.

Myself, along with other local volunteers, headed over to Alma Florist for the day to create these cheerful bouquets. Working with your colleagues is always a good time, but knowing you are all working together for someone who may not otherwise receive flowers...it's an amazing feeling.

Below is a picture of the team. Moving from left to right: Brad, the owner of Alma Florist, Leanne, Slavica, Carol-Anne, me and Sue :o)
